AMAZING EXPERIENCES
So Many Friends
I am amazed at how many wonderful people we have met throughout our journey. We've learned so much from the people we've met, both locals and other travelers, and we feel like we've shared a lot too. When you're away from home for such a long time, it seems worth it to make the effort to get to know people even though they will be moving on and out of your life in either a few hours or a few days. So you take what you can get and move quickly into more intimate relationships with people where you're sharing your life experiences, your plans, your dreams, your feelings.... all of it. But you also have to let people go. You have to be thankful for what you had and leave it up to fate whether you will see them again, keep in touch by email or just have those few moments.
To add to that, we were very lucky to have some of our dearest friends from home come out to visit us while we were on the road. A huge group of people met up with us in Mexico and started our trip off right with lots of fun times and great climbs, then Karl and Amy came to Tonsai to climb rocks with us, Vik came and spent three weeks exploring Turkey with us, Amy and Sandra joined us in Frigiliana for a week and then Kirsten and Karl came and spent two weeks exploring Andalucia and Mallorca with us. It was a joy to see them along the way given how much we missed being part of their daily lives and it was touching that they like us enough to make that kind of effort. We are so lucky.
