PACKING

Packing List

June 2007: Addendum

We packed way too much stuff for this trip and have changed our baggage several times throughout the course of our journey. We would prefer to just have one large backpack each so that we can move around with ease. That doesn't seem possible with all our clothing, toiletries, shoes and sleeping bags plus the climbing gear. We usually end up storing the climbing gear if we don't plan on climbing anywhere. It's just a pain to have all this stuff to lug around the world. Not sure how to reduce the amount of stuff we have, but we definitely wish it was possible.

Packing for this trip is a serious challenge. We need some very specific gear for all our activities as well as clothing for hot, cold and wet weather as well as all of our toiletries. Quite a challenge.

We chose our baggage carefully. We each have the same bags (in different colors of course) because we think we've found the ideal combination. It'll be interesting to see if our opinion changes. These are the 3 bags we're taking with us:

REI Tech Beast Rolling Duffle

REI Lookout Backpack

Timbuk2 Messenger Bag

The backpack is the perfect size for taking to the crag each day, the messenger bag will hold our laptops and the other important items that we'll keep with us at all times, and the rolling duffle will bear the brunt of the gear and clothing.
